You guys are too nice. We need to thank you - my job is easy - the people slugging though the patients day in and day out are the real HERO'S of this job - it is for them that I do this! N-BAM - keep dancing - it gets better!

I go into the hospital with a little more confidence (still working on coming out with it too :) ) And I am happy to say in one week I will be a better R2 than I was an R1 and that is progress.

Now my qs: what are the pitfalls of technology overload? Do you think it potentiates attention deficit in an already challenged group of EM Residents? For example, in medical school I always felt that I was inundates with review textbooks, that I never actually mastered one. Could this be a flaw in multimedia as well? YOur thoughts.

    Much Respect

Dr. Herbert, It would be an honor to kiss your right big toe! Thank you for dedicating your career to taking cate out of complicate and making it cake! (ok maybe cheesy, but I mean it!) I am an ER intern & not doing so well, I'm surrounded by more people telling me where I should be than helping me figure out how to get there. After a 12 turned 14 hour shift, I try to read and fall flat on my freaking face. So when I show up to the hospital again in the am, I'm even more anxious, more worried that I don't know what I am doing, feeling the eyes piercing at me, and even that much more discouraged. I stopped watching TV, stopped dancing (I love to dance!), stopped working out, and things just got even worse, I acquired a stuttering problem, found myself completely intimidated by the hospital... And then I found you! Your media outlets for education have been inspiring. Using them changed my outlook, and honestly kept me from quitting & joining a brazilian dance troop instead. I come from humble beginnings and I know that what I do matters, I also know that where I want to go others don't, but help is needed. So quitting is not an option, but finding the best approach to this life learning is cruCIAL! So thanks for telling me about TED & EMAbstract. Thank you for putting together EMRAP and I look forward to EMCore... I workout, I samba, I drive and I have a night cap with this stuff. I'm having fun again... I go into the hospital with a little more confidence (still working on coming out with it too :) ) And I am happy to say in one week I will be a better R2 than I ...
